Subject: Wheel upgrades for Clydesdale
Hello to all -

Wondering if anyone has recommendations on wheel upgrades? I'm a Clydesdale (240 lbs.) and looking to make some upgrades to my existing bike. From my reading on the internet, most people are saying to go no less than 28 spoke. Any wheelset recommendations would be greatly appreciated. 700c size and cost is a consideration, but when isn't it?

Zipp offers Clydesdale versions of their wheelsets. Also, Hed3s are appropriate for anyone.

Are you looking for race wheels, or just good, bomb-proof training wheels?

You could actually get away with using Ksyriums as well ... and they are 20 - 24 spoked .......

The wheelset ride_like_u_stole_it gave would be pretty bullet proof as well as long it was a good builder that built them.

The inpuut so far has been great. I've looked at 28 spoke and above. I would mostlike train and race with them, unless it is recommended to not train on them. I like the way the 24 and lower spokes looks, but I want them to last. Here is my list so far to start looking at.

Velocity - Deep V
Mavic - Ksyrium, Cosmos, Open Pro
Williams
Eaton- Circuit
Bontrager - ?

Does anyone have experience with Alex Rims? My Felt has Alex DH22, are they decent? Worth an upgrade? Just trying to squeeze some more speed.

Thanks again,

AJ

Alex are found on a lot of $1000 or less road bikes.  Mine has them and I think they are fine.   I broke one spoke, but after having it replaced and the wheel retensioned it has been great.
