Subject: Starting Today
Hey all-

I am new to the board and the sport. I am 32 years old, and used to run a lot, used to swim (through high school), and used to mountain bike a lot. But as you all can see, that's a lot of "used to"'s. Also, I have never put all three together.

I finally woke up the other day and realized I have gotten WAY out of shape. I have tried many times to run and usually keep with it for a month or two, but always burn out, so this time, I decided to try training for a tri. Hopefully, because of the variation in training, I will stay motivated. This time, I have also put an event on the calendar as a goal (a tri-sprint). I have thought about doing a tri before, but always thought "No way - those are for people much more athletic than me." But this time, I realized that I can do all three by them self, so why not just put them together.

Anyway, I'm sure many of you will see me asking lots of questions as I get more serious about this sport. Right now, I am just looking forward to getting off the couch!

I look forward to joining the community

Congrats on starting a new lifestyle!!!! I think that you will find that most people on here started the exact same way, myself included. You will be surprised how quick everything comes back and how fast you progress. The races themselves are very fun and addictive. You will be hooked for life!!!! Welcome.

welcome to BT! If today is your first day, remember the date. It will change your life! I know this sounds cheesy, but it's true. I started training 3/18/2004. In six months you'll look back and be amazed at how far you've come. Good luck and have a blast!

Welcome aboard. There's no greater motivator than signing up for that first race. That's the only thing that got me off the couch when I started training.

Good luck
