Subject: help me pick my next race?
my muscles are still sore from yesterday, but i'm ready to do it again. since my background is more in mountain biking than road biking, i had been dreaming about doing an off-road tri maybe next year or the year after. now that i did my first race, i'm thinking 'why NOT this year?'. so, what do you think? i can't do all of them, since they are each a week apart. i'm thinking either the two local races OR the off-road in wisconsin. okay, here are the races i'm considering

* tri-america series - - in 3 weeks. local. 750 Meters - Bike 20K - Run 5K (http://www.active.com/event_detail.cfm?event_id=1125272)

AND/OR

* st. croix valley tri - first weekend in sept. 1/3 mile swim, 10 mile bike, 4 mile run. (http://www.active.com/event_detail.cfm?event_id=1112136)

OR

* chequamegon fat tire tri - at the end of the month. haven't been on my mountain bike in a over a year, but i raced on the course about 10 years ago for the fat tire festival and know that its pretty tame. the short course is 1/3 mile swim, 11 mile mtn bike, 3.5 mile trail run. I wish I would have thought to take a picture of my numbers on my leg. That's cool.

If you are only doing 1 more race this year I would chose the one that is the latest so that you can keep training hard. TractorAl (who raced you at Brewhouse) and I plan to do the latest one we can find which happens to be in Baraboo WI on 9/19.

The most important question is "what do you want to race?" If you think that an off-road is going to be fun, then go for it! The time difference between the three is minimal. Get some MTB saddle time in. Also, make sure you do some trail running before the race. But it sounds like a blast. Remember we are doing this to have fun.
