Event warmup:

walk for 10 minutes and Jog first 200 m and back , some light stretching
Started at the back of the pack with fellow runners from the club so I would not go out too hard.

Comments:

Ran a good race , my second attempt at the distance. shaved 20 + minutes from my time but this course was a faster course.
Took 1 or 2 water cups at every mile poured it on my head and shoulders, Drank the gatorade. Brought two gels and a water bottle with me . Took the gels around mile 5 and mile 9 .
What would you do differently?:

Try it again next year.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked , some one at the finish line handed finishers some mint water , It was cold but pretty gross. I almost choked. Found some REAL water and gatorade.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

General fitness and weight . I ran as fast as I could for the distance.

Event comments:

Great race , pretty course with lots of volunteer to help ,
There was water and gatorade at every mile from 3 onwards.

To explain the last mile : With about 1.5 mile to go I spotted Tom a fellow runner from the club who always runs faster than me in practice. I had not seen him until then . I thought he was fading a little and I felt confident I could catch him. So I started to push harder.
I almost closed the gap but he finished strong and I came in about 50 feet behind him.
But The race being was chip timed so with the ajusted time i found out later That i beat him by 40 seconds !

Now I need some R&R for a few weeks.
