I am just getting started. I used to be an avid runner many years ago and due to plantar fasciitis I decided to try spinning about a year ago. I LOVE it.
Well, the plantar fasciitis is gone and with this new found love of a bike I figured I would give triathlons a try.
To make my long story short, I am REALLY overweight and working hard at dropping some pounds, but sometimes feel quite defeated.
Any motivation will help!
I will continue to post my progress as the my YMCA's triathlon club gets into full swing and I get a proper program setup.
I love this site so far!!!!!

Just stick with it.  Then we can change the voice in your head to something more positive... how about, "fast fast fast!" instead?

This is a great sport and an amazing journey for many, you won't be the first to have made a serious lifestyle change and lost weight here.

Hi!

I was overweight too before I started running. I also modified my diet slightly - I removed fast foods, sweets etc. I do not eat less, but more valueable products only.

I kept on running and already lost 20 kg (44 pounds)! I have the same advice to you - keep on moving and the weight will drop down sooner or later.

What is your exact goal? Having it really helps If you want to focus on loosing your weight for now focus on running as slower heart rate (about 60 - 70 % of your maximum heart rate). With this slower pace your energy is taken from fat more then while running faster. The best is to run before first meal and try to make it at least 30 minutes. Thrice a week is enough for the beginning

But as you used to be an active runner I am sure you already know all that And let me know if you need any advice on workouts, nutrition or anything concerned with running... I am still a beginner runner, but at least could share some knowledge on how to drop some pounds

I saw also in your log that you took some spinning class. I remember how hard it was to me the first time. Some girls did not manage to make it to the end even...

Good luck!

Marcin

Wecome, definitely come on over to Tri'ing for Weightloass forum for others like us looking to drop some pounds.

For some real motivative spend some time with the "Before & After Photos" thread, the ever growing thread (going on 11 pages to date) of those who have lost with training.  I use it for inspiration whenever I need it.

FInd an event and pay for it. Preferably one that is expensive enough and far away enough that NOT doing it will make you a bit nervous. This is a great site with great tools and lots of motivation. Find your groove and get in it and start pushing!!!!

Pick a training plan and eating plan and stick to it and the weight will fall.  I too started this tri thing just to see if I could do one and now i am hooked.  In the process I have dropped 50+ pounds.  I have more to lose and expect to see it go as I continue to train.  My gains in fitness have been even more surprising than the weight loss.

I am still a solid "back of the pack" competitor but those fast guys need us to make them look good.  Have fun with it.
