I crashed Oct 1st during an Oly, lots of RR, went to the ER and all.  Had all possible RR imaginable! Triple antibotic cream and large bandages like 3"x4" and some tape.  If small enough then 3x4 bandages with sticky trim (smaller bandage area).  Change twice daily until it is fully healed.  Also the Band-aid brand was better than the Walgreens look alike!

Happy healing!

As odd as it sounds, I found that Preparation H takes alot of the sting out of road rash.

One of the ointments I used also had a topical pain reliever something or other in it too.  Very helpful on the fresh raw wounds!

Keep it clean and moist...with any of the above ointments and that will help.

I don't even want to know what kind of RR you had which was close enough to the Preparation H application area to inadvertantly be co-mingled enough with the RR to make that discovery.

I think arnie baker has an article about this. I also wrote extensively on it awhile ago and don't have the patience to retype it all.

what is posted will work fine. OR you can get some "tegaderm" type adhesive dressings...they wrok like magic. Leave 'em on for 3 days at a time. Loosen a corner to let drippy fluids out and tack it back down. Keeps it clean, moist and heals faster than without, even if you are diligent about ointments and such. CHeck with a local friendly RN, she'll know what they are.

Spills suck, but the scar will remind you forever. I am still healing 4 months after a flip over the top at 20 + mph. Sucks to have RR, but better thatn any break any day!!!

Thoroughly, and I mean thoroughly clean (and disinfect) it and put mole skin on it. Make sure you don't leave any gravel in it, been there done that... Leave it on until it falls off, and all should be healed or pretty close.

As far as the pain, I found a liberal application of Rum to your mouth will take care of most of the pain.

I had a massive motorcycle accident several years ago (barely survived) and had lots of road rash. I was able to minimize scaring by using a vitamin E lotion. But don't use it too early. Keep it very clean now.
