Hello, all. I've been lurking here for a few weeks and thought I'd go ahead and join up. Um...let's see. I live in a hot, humid and very flat place. I weighed about twice my ideal weight a year ago, and decided that after a decade of sitting on my butt it was time to do something about it.
March of this year I bought a mountain bike (but, no mountains! heck, no hills! so I ride trails) and fell in love with it. End of June was seeing temps near the 100s and I was melting, so joined a gym and started running in addition to cycling on their stationaries. I'm not ready for the 3rd sport yet, but swimming lessons are on my agenda -- I grew up in the water and wouldn't drown, but I also never learned to swim "properly" or with any speed / strength.

So here I am. I'm loving the training schedule I've started and I'm really looking forward to being able to do my first sprint, hopefully next year. This is a great community and I'm glad to be here. Hope ya'll can tolerate even more newb questions.
