My mom's stuffing and gravy.  Ummm..even better the day after.  The stuffing is so good I even eat big pieces of it cold while I prepare my day after leftover plate.  This year I'm in FL for T-Day though so I'll have to wait until Christmas to get a good meal.  I'll try to dulpicate it myslef this weekemd but it never comes out right!

Turkey Trot races in the morning....then pigging out afterwards, and DEFINITELY watching the parades. But I think I have a new favorite thing from Renee...the mimosa's sound PERFECT!

My Thanksgivings have varied over the years.  My family has been celebrating Thanksgiving with my sister-in-law's family for the past 6 years and I have come to look forward to it.  There are lots of kids around, and a lot of love, and I think that's my favorite part.  I also love the delicious food... my sister-in-law's sweet potato casserole... and her sister-in-law's moist and delicious turkey.  I also enjoy watching the Macy's parade, which is my favorite of all the parades.  One of these years I will make the trip to NYC for the parade.

This year will be different... mostly because I had stomach surgery last month.  I won't be able to "pig out" anymore, but that's a good thing.  I will still be able to enjoy the delicious food, but "healthy" is a new tradition I'm starting.  Another tradition I'm starting this year is the Turkey Trot.  God I'm lucky.

I can't stop thinking about mimosas! Must holdout 'til Thursday...

I also like to listen to Mozart while cooking. Gets me in the groove.

This Thanksgiving will be different. Its the first one with my new in-laws (married a month ago). Last year we had Turkey Day at our house for both sets of parents, but this is my first Thanksgiving away from home. (sniff)

I sure hope their stuffing is good...........

You never heard the song "Alice's Restaurant" by Arlo Guthrie? Famous anti-war anti-draft song from the 60's.

The Group W bench in the song is those who have been deemed morally unfit to join the Army for criminal activity.

"Alice's Restaurant" is a popular song from the 1960s written and sung by Arlo Guthrie, son of the legendary American folk singer Woody Guthrie. It's long - over 18 minutes. There is a recurring refrain that at the end Guthrie gets the audience to join in on and sing with him. The rest is mainly his narration, in a nasal, ironically-intoned speaking voice, first of an incident in which he received a fine and punishment for dumping garbage in the wrong place, and later, how this incident again became important when he was about to be drafted into the military to serve in the Vietnam war.

That's why I'm so surprised you've never heard the song.

Local radio dj has a tradition of playing that song on Thanksgiving. Mostly because the song is about something that happens on Thanksgiving.

It's not really all that subversive a song, it sorta pokes fun at the draft system from the Vietnam era.

I'm going to have to chastise my hippy friends for not introducing it to me.

I like to crank up Mozart or Chopin or Debussy or Miles Davis on Thanksgiving and almost never listen to the radio.

I only get to hear it because I'm usually in the car.

Other than that, I generally don't get much tv or radio or anything else on Thanksgiving. The joys of seeing in-laws....*sigh*

Is it Friday yet?

YOU! Yeah You! I am so jealous you have fresh pumpkin and strawberries and who knows what else in your garden.

What is the name of the pumpkin variety that is used for pie?
