Hey there ... welcome.

You picked a big race for your "A" race of the season, but it is 'doable'  ... if you log in the training.

While there is plenty of time before next September to train with a plan to prepare yourself for the event, there is never time like the present to begin your base training.

Take a look around the site, including the front page to access articles on Heart Rate training.  For a race this distance, you will want to familarize yourself with how to find your zones and the background on periodized training.

In the meantime, here is a link to a race report on the Cancun 70.3 experience ... http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=55767

and here is another: http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=55682

Sounds like a great race. I started last year with my first tri the calif 70.3 then the CDA full. The training programs on this website really work. As for the run, I was concerned about that myself and really worried about getting injured. A friend gave me a copy of Chi running. I'm not sure I buy all of it but it's a great way to run without injuring yourself. Also I now notice a lot of people at the races using the same form. Very low impact. Good luck it's very doable!

Welcome!  I'll second the suggestion to use the logs.  It's a really satisfying way to chart progress, and it's especially nice when friends drop in to share the little victories.

 Happy tri'ing!
