For everyone that just raised their hand... I have three words for you:

WICHITA STATE UNIVERSITY!

I am so sorry for gloating, but I traveled 12 hours each way to watch the game in person, and it was unbelievable. My team beat the #6 ranked team in the country! How cool is that.

In related news... why do only 6,000 fans show up to watch the #6 ranked team in the country? That arena was the quietest sporting event I'd ever been to - no chants, cheers, clapping, yelling, standing... NOTHING! I come from an arena where every game was sold out before the season began (10,300 seat arena), the crowd stands and claps at each half until the opposing team makes their first basket, and it has been called one of the loudest arenas in the country (yes, even louder than Duke). LSU kind of freaked me out.

It's football season.  Nobody will care until after the bowls.

We did do well in that little tournament last year.  Didn't see your baseball school in the Final Four, did I?

I'm guessing Wichita State doesn't have a football team? Maybe if basketball was the only diversion in Baton Rouge there would be more people at the game. I imagine the next biggest attraction in Wichita is watching the streetlights come on at dusk.

I do think it's pretty cool that you guys took your nickname from an obscene gesture used by other schools.

No we don't have football anymore so basketball is a pretty big deal. I will ignore your comment about attractions in Wichita... - it's actually not that bad of a city.

And about the nickname--- it's actually a historical reference to the first students of the University. They shocked wheat (wheat shockers) for a living. The gesture thing is ridiculous.
