Hi Reid ... not sure about Masters programs in the Raleigh area ... as I'm still working on technique. And will be for awhile ...

Cheap pool? Depends on what you mean by cheap, I guess ... but ... um ... not that I've heard of. I think Rex Wellness has a facility with a pool in Cary ... but I live in New Hill and swim either at Gold's Gym at North Hills or Pullen Park ... way more than 20 minutes out for you.

Good luck and let me know if you find anything good and cheap near you ... I'd be interested. The weekend drives are KILLER!

I swim at Pullen Aquatic Center (near NC Sate) and Optimist Park/Pool (Six Forks Road just above the beltline). I believe they both have Masters programs. I pay like $2.25 or so every time I go...much cheaper than a Y membership for me.

Pullen is more expensive for non-Raleigh residents. I think it's 5.50 each time, but I buy a fifteen punch pass for $45 which has worked great for me.

Rumor has it that the "check" for Raleigh vs non-Raleigh residents isn't very scientific at Pullen. I live in Raleigh but have some friends that don't, but for the purposes of swimming, much like Hillary Clinton, they claim an address in a different area.

...not that I'd ever do that, Rick

I've lived in Raleigh before, 5 years at NCSU...I'm making up for the time I lived there and didn't use the pool.  Heck, I practically grew up at Pullen Park.

Hah. btw, nice photo on your Felt.

Also since no one else seems to want to post it... Here's the link to Raleigh Area Master's Swimming.

I went there for a while, but I have such a regular swim group on Tuesday/Thursday anyways...

Hah. Kevin seems to be bringing all his "Raleigh" neighbors out to Pullen.

Yeah definitely... I'm surprised you can recognize me, there are some people who are terrible with names, and some people who are terrible with faces. I'm terrible with both.

I'll be out tomorrow so you won't see me at Pullen. Thursday though!
