Can anyone recommend a good place in Atlanta to get fitted on a bike?  I also need some help with determining the proper placement of my cleats on my shoes.

I think the Bicycle Link on Pharr Road is very good.  The people who work there are real bikers and triathletes.  I think they have the best mechanic in the area.

I second the recommendation for Matt at the Sport Factory - he did my fit this year and did a great job. He'll also help you with the cleat position on your shoes as part of the fit process.

How much should one expect to pay for an expert fitting like the one Matt does?

Thanks Meredith. I didn't even think to look at The Sport Factory's site first, duh!

I expected a higher cost but $100/hour plus parts (what parts would you need?) seems like alot. I know Heather said her fitting took almost 2 hours, that's alot of money. Has anyone besides Heather had this done and noticed a big enough difference to justify the cost??

**Not trying to downplay your fitting Heather, I'm just asking for other opinions ;)

The parts that you may or may not (probably not if your bike is the correct size) are a shorter or longer stem, spacers to bring up or lower your handlebars. Heather was an exceptional situation, not the norm. Matt did my fitting and it took about 45 minutes, it varies from bike to bike.

My LBS offered free fitting with bike purchase. Unfortunately, I didn't take them up on it until the season was over. Big mistake!

They did a good set-up job by sight before the fitting. But when I finally got my fitting done, which took about an hour, I could tell a big difference on my first ride. My body position was shifted and allowed me to get more power out of my legs with less effort. The aero position is also more comfortable. The biggest adjustment was only 2 cm but made a huge difference.

I definitely recommend getting fitted to your bike, even if it means spending $$!

Just got back from my appt w/ Matt at the Sport Factory.  He did an awesome job!  Turns out my bike was not exactly positioned correctly.  It took right around 1 hour and I'd definitely recommend it.
