Overall Rank = 169/669

Pre-race routine:

Pizza and Marble Slab ice cream the night before the race...Becoming a tradition for me. Got all my stuff ready the night before and went to bed around 11:30pm.
Woke up a 5:15am met up with a friend and drove her the the start @ Maderia Beach. Waited in line to pick up # and packet.

Event warmup:

Not much into warming up. I did run to the local grocery store to use the bathroom. I ran into a friend I have known for years that I never could run with because I was not fast enough. We decided to run together and try to hold arout a 8:45 pace.

Comments:

This was a good run for me another PR. I started feeling sluggish until about the 5th mile. I began to really relax at mile 9 and new I could pick up the pace a little. I started to pick it up and my friend and I stayed together until mile 11. I picked it up a little more and finished strong.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing..starting at the pace I did allowed me to finish strong. Possibly I would pick it up a little sonner but not by much.
Post race
Warm down:

Waited for friends to finish and got some cookies (the reason I run). Drank a sugar free red bull and some gatorade.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not knowing how to pace myself...I was lucky to have my friend there to keep my pace steady in order to finish with negative splits.

Event comments:

I finished with a PR for the 1/2 marathon distance, took 5th out of 36 in my age group, 38th female out of 340, and 169 overall out of 669. I enjoyed this event and will do it again. I am looking forward to gaspirilla in Febuary..I want to do a > 1:50. I will just keep training and getting the tempo runs in.
