hey gang - my group is itchin for a challenge in april so i just suggested this:

okay here's what i suggest for the challenge...

we can keep it just vamp against vamp, but THIS time we will only count swim, bike and run minutes... basically its a triathlon challenge.

the vamp who goes the ironman distance (2 mile swim/112 mile bike/26 mile run) in a month - wins! second place to half iron, third to oly and so on...

or we could set mileage/yardage goals for each sport and try to reach them individually or as a team. this month will be especially hard for me, because i have a business trip to vegas the second week in april...

any takers? we could keep it friendly and just try to reach the highest mileage total for both mentor groups and see if we can do a double ironman between all of us...

comments? thoughts?

I'm issuing an April biking challenge. Just posted this on the VAMPS thread - so you guys can opt in or out.

The one with the most miles in the saddle during the month of April wins. Because most of us will have outside riding weather available to us, stationary bikes will only count for 1/2 the distance you go, spin classes will be considered the same. (so 10 miles on the stationary/spin bike only counts for 5 miles etc...)

Any takers?

well i for one have to decline a bike challenge for right now...my cages broke and i am in the process of getting clipless pedals and shoes but who knows what the budget will allow for...i'd be into the ironman challenge as long as stationary bikes count (and i never know how far i go on the spin bikes)

party poooper!

just kidding - from my logs you can see i'm off to a rousing start in my own challenge with ZERO minutes for ANYTHING! oy - this working for a living stuff is rough.

didn't get too many (or any) takers for the ironman challenge - maybe in may?

Hi Gang,
Sorry I have been out of the loop lately. I was in a bad car wreck and totaled my car. I have been sore and slow, but OK. I need to get back at it, my 1st tri is scheduled for the beginning of June. Hope all is well with everyone!

Wow, sorry to hear about your car wreck.  That's no fun. Take it easy and recover well!

I'm going to have to opt out of any challenge this month as well... and probably for May as well.  Though I really like challenges and they motivate me well!  Maybe in June.  But I'm in major crunch time.  My wedding is only 40 days away!!  So almost all my evening time is eaten up by wedding stuff.

On the exercise front, I've been running fairly consistently without pain!  We went for a 30 minute run last night and I felt great.  This morning, since I have a holiday at work, I went to the gym and did a hard session on the eliptical trainer and then hit the wieghts big time afterward.  It felt so great!  I haven't been getting a lot of exercise in lately and it shows.

Hope everyone else is doing well.
