Hi Gang,

Sorry for not getting with all of you for the past few days.
Last thursday I was informed my dear grandmother had suffered a stroke the past sunday and was now home, so thursday night I packed up all the kids (25,22,16,13 & 9) made the longest 2 hour drive of my life. Got to my grandparents home to vist and was shell shocked. We were able to talk to her however I'm not sure she knew we were there.
We visited & did our best to comfort my grandfather but what do you say to comfort a man who has spent the last 65.5yrs. living and loving with his wife. We went home thursday night after saying good bye to grandma knowing it was more than likely the last time I'd see her alive.
Friday morning my mother called to say Grandma passed away. Her funeral was Monday.

It's lifes events like this that make me realize what's truely important for the short time we're all on this earth.

I apologize for not being the upbeat "Al" as usual.
I'll be back to normal soon(what ever that is)lol

Have a blessed day and PEACE be with you all.

I am 18 days out from Ironman CA and I'm freaking out. I mean, I know I'm 'ready' but at the same time it's like I haven't done nearly enough.

I am pretty excited though.

You will do fine in the HIM, you have put in training and busted your hump. Just go out there and enjoy yourself and get to the finish. If it makes you feel any better Doug and I will be running a marathon this weekend.

Your training has been spot on and you know it!  Your training has been putting me to shame. Does the taper start next week?

Good luck with the 10k this weekend Al!  You will do great!  Steven and I will be thinking of you on Sunday morning - probably about the time we hit the 10k to go point.

Good luck to all of you Racers.  I am not racing, but am hosting my parents, who are coming to visit me in North Carolina for the first time.

I am also trying to recover from my TT on Monday.

Like I said in my log, I am back at it. I took some time to focus on rugby there (and it paid off as we won the whole tournament in Savannah) but am back at it.

A nice lunchtime run to get the wheels rolling again and I feel pretty good.

Nice work to all of you on the races.

Did my first workout after a full 8 days off. At least I remembered how to swim. All of my little aches and pains are gone. I can't wait to make new ones!
