I saw this listed on e-bay.  Price is certainly right, but I've never heard of many of the brands that make up the components .

I also can't find any information about this make anywhere esle on the 'net.

Huh. The Shimano components are dept. store material. The wheels look like Kysirium rip offs (I love that they're called "Star Circle Panther"--sounds like an Asian gang. I did find a website, but there's almost nothing on it--there is a contact form where you can ask questions, though.

Heh.  Errr....interesting spec, and Jim, the pictures and spec appear to be up on the website.  www.vilanobikes.com

Functional stuff that might be an issue:  it comes in one size only - medium, claiming it fits from 5'5" to 5'10", it's a double / 7 cog rear (14 speeds only), really low end Shimano components.

Other maybe interesting stuff:  downtube shifters, cool....very retro.  The spec as listed on the website has a few typos, the numbers on some of the Shimano components are wrong.  These are on sale through auction sites and ebay/web stores like a rash.  And the bikes not bad looking, FWIW.

And an interesting question:  Anyone seen anything like the funky flanges on the 'Panther' wheels?  It looks like the spokes go into a raised area on the rim, and I know the wheel couldn't be extruded that way.  I'm guessing it's gotta be plastic, for aesthetics.  I hope that's not what the spokes are affixed to...

So I sent off an email to this company after seeing the ebay market fairly well flooded with these bikes and checking out their website.  I am less than impressed with their response.  I include it and my inquiry below...  Has anyone heard anything else?  And I responded to this email saying that I didn't count the "reviews" on ebay as true reviews.  I was looking for third party reviews.

Peace,

Brian

standover height is 77.5cm
seat top tube 53cm

We recently started selling to the public Dec 2006.
The only reviews can be found on Ebay

We take pride in the manufacturing of our frames and fork.
We have a unique design that we back up with a 3 year warranty.
Our bikes were designed to compete with any lower end entry level road bike that usually sells for around $600-$700
You won't be dissappointed.

message:   It seems you only have a medium size frame available currently... Can you tell me what the standover height and the top tube length are? How about weight? Additionally do you have any places to point me for reviews of your bike?
Thanks,
Brian

Machined rim. There are some high-end wheels that do this as well (Ksyrium comes to mind).

I bought one off Ebay and it is a pretty descent bike. For the money it's a great deal. I didn't have any problems with my order. They shipped the bike the same day I paid, and I got it 2 days later. The bike rides nice, no problems with it. I am going to change the pedals to clipless, and I might change the handlebars to Ritchey Aero bars. I found some on clearance at nashbar for $60.

I am glad to hear that you are having a good experience with your bike.  If they ever sell some larger bike frames, I might consider it.

Peace,
