diversue - 2007-05-07 6:53 PM Hi everyone!! The warmer weather makes it feel great to be outdoors and train. I am not much of a treadmill / bike trainer kinda gal. Outside is where I want to be. Even the pool is pushing it I did a little 5k last weekend. My time is nothing to brag about...but it was a PR for me!!! I'd like to shave about a minute per mile off that time as I work towards a tri scheduled for July (Mary: I think same one you are signed up for - at Mercer). Getting a little nervous because I don't nearly feel ready. I would like to do another 5k and a 10k before the tri. Then perhaps a big run for the fall - like a half marathon. Happy training to everyone

i hear ya sue! its great to get outside now on a regular basis.

wish i'd-a known 'bout your race, would have liked to wish you luck. are you going to fill out a race report? they're fun to look back on as you progress in the sport(s). congrats on the PR! remember you're the one who decides where the finish line/goals are.

there's a 10K in central park on june 9th that i registered for today, if you're interested. it celebrates the first women only race that nyrr put on. very cool thing to commemorate. its hard to believe that in the late sixties a woman had to fight her way into the boston marathon (literally) and most people didn't think women could even run the longer distances. so i'm down w/that race for sure!

you are doing the nj state tri? that's the one me and my sister signed up for. maxpixie (who's been on this thread a couple of times) is doing the oly distance (go girl!) and i'm sure there's a ton of other BTers signed up for it too. don't worry, you'll be ready, is it your first tri?

Hey everybody!  Haven't checked in for awhile.  My mom was in town for a few days and we had a blast.  It fun to hang out with just her, ususally she and my dad come together.  I'm getting ready to go for a run.  this week I officially start training for the 1/2 mary in September.  It'll be interesting incorporating the 1/2 mary training with the tri training.  I think it'll be fine.

hey girlfriend! didn't know you were planning a half marathon! congrats! you'll do great, I mean what's 13.1 miles to someone like you who did a full 26.2? but seriously, great good luck with the training, getting in those long runs once a week will be your biggest challenge, I'm thinking.

Yeah, no kidding (about the long runs).  But I managed to  hike for hours on end, so hopefully I'll be able to run for 1/2 the time.  That's the key though, the hiking vs the running...very scary.  I did sucker I mean convince Susan to do it with me though

well now i'm convinced you both will be amazing! the power of two translates into great results. keep us posted on how training is going and how you deal with the heat on the long runs. its one of the things i worry about in my considering the nyc marathon in '08, much of the training happens during the summer.

Klynne is right about the suckering that she did. I wanted her to do the Ryka with Brenda and I. She said yes, then suggested I run with her.  MAn she's good.  I think I'm looking forward to it but I'm gonna HATE the long runs.  I've managed to do 5 once so It'll be INTERESTING, to say the least.

Well I surpassed one goal! I just scored a 286 on my last Army Physical Fitness Test. Did 43 pushups in 2min 77 situps in 2min and did my 2mile run in 16:09. Scored above 90 in each event to earn at Physical Training Patch (my first one in over 8 years)!!!! I am down to 132lbs as well, one more pound to reach my goal! Just thought I would fillyou all in. I know I have been slacking in the log department but not in working out or training...Let me know how you all are doing! Love ya!

Wow! I'm really impressed!  Makes me want to start working on push-ups, I think I can only do about 5 right now.
