You are really doing well this race season, Cheri. Congratulations! (Now, how about sharing some of that fast running stuff with me?!)

Ok -- Poof, it's yours!

I am happy with my race season, but it's about to come to a screeching halt. Last race is Saturday (a 5K, not my best event), then surgery on the 18th. I'm very concerned with figuring out a way to stay in condition during recovery. Any suggestions from anyone? My doctor doesn't want me to do anything where I may fall, so I figure that walking and riding on the trainer are my best options.

Walking and trainer should be good. (Ken, keep that a deep secret about falling off  ) What is your anticipated timeline for being back on the road? Could you use the eliptical during recovery?

The doctor says full recovery is 3-6 months, but that doesn't mean that I can't run until I'm completely healed. I broke my clavicle a year ago (at this same time), and ran my first race at the end of May. Hopefully I'll be able to follow the same timeline.

I talked with him about when I can start walking and using the trainer, and he said as soon as I have the energy. I hadn't really thought about an elliptical, though. I'll ask -- thanks for the suggestion.
