Well I have not been in competitive sports for some time and it was mainly basketball. I feel that I can't compete like I used to in that sport, so I thought I would try some tris or bis. I'm not looking to become a fanatic, but I think it would be good for me to start competing again. I just need some tips on how to get started, because I'm not familiar with these sports. From what I've read they seem complicated to train for. I especially need help when it comes to nutrition.

Hey, another Tucsonan! Cool! Must be something in the water making us want to do tris for the first time. Anyways, good luck with the training, and as TJ said, check out the Tinfoilman on Oct. 17. A link is on the "calendar" here on BT.

Welcome to BT!  Like Ron said, check the training plans on the home page.  As far as nutrition - boy that's a complex subject.  You need to replace carbs if you are doing long training (anything over an hour), and you need to replace sodium (like in a sports drink).  Afterwards, carbs and protein for replacement/repair.  There are some books out there, or just post questions on the forums!

Good luck

Welcome to the site! And Ron suggested, check out the training plans as a place to get started. I struggle with nutrition also, so I've just been trying to eat better things, one thing at a time. Ex, I now eat only natural peanut butter, butter instead of margarine, whole grain rice instead of white, etc. Good luck to you!
