hotel bar? wouldn't that rule those of us with kids in tow out? There's no hammock to throw them in......

Christine, I REALLY do not think the owner of La Veranda wants us back this year. Someone (Sue, I think) asked her last year if we could have the party there and she said yes, but she wasn't very happy with us afterwards. Hence the need for a new location this year. If it's not in a hotel bar, then it will have to be at Baywalk.

I'm at La Veranda this year. Heh.  I'm pretty sure when she sees me, she's gonna a-throw me out.  Heh.  And no, I don't think we can pull off a party there unless we pre-clear it with her, and have some 'rules' - which, as we all know, we suck at.

I'll ask on Thursday, but that might be too late logistically.

Remember last year she tried to make me pay extra for the clean up of said party...I think anywhere other than there is a better idea, even with kids!!

What happened at the party last year? We left early and must have missed something good.

It's no coincidence that Wendi's camera broke at like 8PM. Just sayin'.

And I wasn't even drunk....yet!!

Oh, and let's not forget that Nancy said we could have the party "no problem" were the words she used, then tried to accuse us of not getting permission....did we forget that part???!!  All because of CHEESE on the wall, Mr. Hi You'll Do??!!!

No Too Jays Friday ... yick on deli meat ... can't we find a grill for some yummy salmon?

And yeah, we probably need a new venue ... I'll never get a better cheese toss than last year's.

Athlete's meeting at 3PM on Saturday (we need to nominate at least ONE person to go).

I'll volunteer.  I want to meet the USAT Regional Director anyways.  But y'all have to promise NO ASSESSED PENALTIES during the race.  There will be a quiz at dinner.

OK so if TooJay's is ok with y'all, let's try and meet there on Friday around 630?  7?  What's better for everyone?  I know there were gonna be some practice rides going on.

Saturday will be DISH...I'll go ahead and call for a reservation this week.  I'm guessing there's gonna be at least 15 of us (including kids), so I'll make it for that and we can add on as we see fit.

Also Saturday morning, I had planned on doing the Draft Day Dash out at RJS but Terri is doing Meek and Mighty and it's important to me to be there for her since she was so supportive of me during IM training.  So I'll be down at the race venue Saturday if anyone's gonna be there.

Sunday I probably won't be around until the afterparty.  Some personal commitments to attend to.  So, sadly, I'll be missing the race.  Jess has the BT banner.  Maybe one of you later wave racers can hook up with her and put it up so y'all can meet after the race.  I'll do my best to get to the afterparty.  Can't miss that, too much fun last year!

I'm not a big deli person but checked on the menu and they have everything like Sue says... lots of  healthy choices and some fun, tastey maybe not so healthy choices.

So is there a BT group swim planned for Saturday am? What time?

6 is fine.  We can even do 530 if you guys want, but that may be a bit early from all the day's events.  I'll go with 6 and we can adjust if we need to.

The boss and I are good for anywhere on either night. We're staying at the Ramada with NO KIDS!!

She's not racing, but she has her very last class for graduate school this Thursday night, so I expect that she'll be willing to hang anywhere as long as there's a bar or even a bottle in a paper bag.

I will be pulling people out of the water onto the stairs after the swim.

Hey! I'll see you then, because I'll be hanging out at the swim finish waiting for my TNTers.

Tri Take Me Away - 2007-04-22 6:17 PM  Who is staying in a hotel close to the race site?

I'm at the Marriott downtown.  Not sure what kind of bar area/lobby they have though.

Amy and I are at the Marriott also.

OK, the Friday night meeting is at TooJay's at Baywalk.  Let's say between 630 and 7pm.  Baywalk is located at 2nd Ave and 2nd street in St. Pete, about three blocks from the race venue.  You can't miss it.  TooJay's is upstairs.  Seating is outside or inside, there's a bar in the complex where you can get some drinks.  TooJay's also has beer I believe.

Saturday, our dinner is at DISH, in the exact same shopping center.  It's got a full bar.

Sunday afterparty is up in the air, but (again at Baywalk) there is an outside bar at the top of the steps that has every kind of frozen drink you can ask for (well almost) and I'm sure we could congregate there without much opposition.  I'm sure they have beer/wine too.

Afterparty probably won't begin til after most of the peeps finish I imagine.  I guess we could start arriving around 4 or so?  I'm sure everyone who has the opportunity to go back to hotel rooms to change/shower will want to do so.

I plan on calling for the DISH reservation tonight.

Woo Hoo!  Its posts like this that get me pumped up!

BonBon (my wife Denise) will be arriving early Thursday morning and assembling bikes hoping to get in some type of afternoon ride somewhere.

We're going to head to Ft. Desoto park for a ride and open water swim practice

And Sat probably going to swim parts of the swim course if they have the buoys up  (I believe that they did have them up last year) to get some sighting practice.

If you're interested in joining us for any of these, shoot me a PM and we can exchange phone numbers.
