This might be fairly well known but I just came across it for the first time last night.  Let's you map out running/bike routes and automatically calculates you mileage for you.  Pretty helpful for those of us without a Garman.  Do any of you have experience with it and if so have you found it to be accurate?

Are there any features that http://www.favoriterun.com/gives me that I don't already get from http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/? Because between the two, I'd prefer the one that doesn't require me to sign up and doesn't seem to want to try so hard to sell me stuff (that'd be gmap-pedometer.com, by the way, in my opinion).

As for the issue of accuracy, I've found gmap-pedometer (which appears to use exactly the same google maps hack that favoriterun.com does) to be fairly accurate over the types of distances I'm doing (10 miles or less). There is a sense of false precision with the maps, though; the number of decimal points they put after the unit of measurement (miles or clicks) seems to imply that they are measuring into the nano-meter scale, which ain't true.

I signed up on favoriterun last night so we'll see if they get pushy.  As for the features I don't know yet but will explore some.

that is pretty cool if it has a garmin output so you can basicly use it like a free topo usa for your computrainer. .

Motion based rocks because you can get the gps of race courses and such.

There is also a website called mapmyrun.com.  It is the same thing and you don't have to signup.  I use it regularly and it is pretty accurate.

Oh swell...now we use the BT version and they end up tracking our every move!  Hey Marma, is it true you're really George Orwell in disguise?
