Subject: Any Word/Publisher experts out there?

I am attempting to convert a 35-page Word document into a Publisher document. It's not going well. Even when I copy and paste the text boxes from Word into Publisher and then copy and paste the text into the boxes it WILL NOT look the same as it does in Word. Publisher chops up words so that they appear on 2 lines and it's really annoying the sh*t out of me. I have literally been working on this ALL DAY and I can't get it to look like the Word document. Can I just say that text boxes are a NIGHTMARE?

If anyone has ever attempted to do this and can share some wisdom I would be THRILLED. Otherwise I will spend all of tomorrow working on the same 2 pages I've been working on today. Thanks.

Can you just make your Word doc a PDF?

the two programs are inherently incompatable...microsoft is evil like this...

btw: why do you need it in the publisher format? printers should be able to accept it in Word or better yet, PDF.  you'll retain all formatting this way.

Try converting the word doc to a RTF (rich text format) then open it in publisher.

Are you saying Publisher is hyphenating the words?  If so, right click inside the text box, choose proofing tools, and then hyphenation.  There will be a box to select to turn off automatic hyphenating.

Peace,

Oh... and while it might be a different way to work than Word, text boxes can be really helpful once you get the hang of them.

Peace,

It's a document that gets changed and updated regularly- this isn't a one-time task. By converting it into Publisher I will be able to insert pages and move text boxes around without affecting what's on the next page- unlike Word- thus the reason my boss wants me to do this...

Beware... as long as you are in the same "story" (i.e. linked text boxes), hyphenation won't happen.  If you start a new text box, you wil have to turn off hyphenation again.

 Peace,
Brian

Is talking about knowing Microsoft programs and using the word 'expert' an oxymoron?
