I checked the leader board to see if my suspicions were correct. I see that the leader in activity minutes shows this information:

Maquoketa Thunder
Lighten Up Iowa - Dubuque
Average minutes: 119 hrs 16 min
(Total: 596 hrs 20 min)

That means they have 5 people on their team and each person is getting an average of 3.8 hours a day. Unless they are professional athletes, I am definitely suspicious...

I would agree with Bikergirrl.  There is no way they have a whole group putting in that many houre everyday.  Although, I am a P.E. teacher and if I logged all my activity minutes everyday that I am in P.E. class it would be quite substantial.  Went downhill skiing last Friday for 5 hours, does that count?  I really don't think so, so I won't log it.  But some may have.  Oh well, I'm just in it to say I was once on the same team as Autumn!

Funny... I was going to go skiing last week and totally planned on logging it! At least a portion of what I considered the actual skiing part (maybe 25% of the time to take out potty breaks, lunch, etc.)

Anyway, I also thought of the same thing like maybe these people are PE teachers or do something active for there job. But it's hard to imagine that all 5 of them are in that category. Anyway, if they cannot understand the spirit of the thing then we can't help them. All exercise is not created equal and we will benefit in the long term.

WORD.  Autumn, thanks for the ticket offer.  My wife's out of town next week in CA, and that means I'm with the 3 kids.  We're gonna keep it simple while 'mom' is gone.  A stack of about 20 Swanson microwave dinners sounds about right.

Log everything...you folks are too darn ethical (and competetive).

I'm logging snowmobiling (it's very strenuous), ice fishing (not so strenuous) and snow shoveling. I won't log walks to the mailbox or watercooler. There, I set the bar low.

Remember, we're only in it for the goodies.

downhill skiing counts. honestly. i think if it can be labled as a SPORT of some sort, then it counts.

my day is VERY active, but i don't log everything here. for example, if i go for a 30+ minute walk with my friend sonja in the morning, i count that. usually we're walking at a brisk pace and talking, with kids on our backs. that's a decent workout. i DON'T log the two blocks morning and night that we walk to the bus stop. as a general rule, if the walk is over 30 mins and i'm either carrying fiona on my back or pushing her in a stroller, i count it. yesterday i logged the walking i did while she was biking, because half the time i was RUNNING to keep up with her. again, if it was down the block and back, i wouldn't log it...but we were out for at least half an hour and she went about a mile or more. in this regard, i think the two key words are EFFORT and DURATION. walking to the bus stop, or the water cooler, doesn't meet either of those requirements.

so, if it is a SPORT, and/or required EFFORT and DURATION.

Autumn. Haven't you ever heard of 'Sport Fishing'?!

Fishing is in the BT sport drop down list, so I'm loggin' it. BT2 needs all the time it can get.

What if I RUN to the water cooler while carrying a large stack of recyling (all the junk mail I get every day).  And then, I need RUN to the bathroom, as the partner to all the RUNNING I do to the water cooler each day...all my water drinking IS in the name of fitness, after all.  It's too bad I can't count watching my kids swim...we are going into week 4 of 5 straight swim meet weekends...Now, if they weren't doing so well we'd have been done some time ago, so I'm not complaining, but dang, it's hard for me to sit...hence, I RUN to the water cooler!

it has to be DURATION...oh wait, EFFORT sounds bad though. if it has to be an effort, what does that say?

Get your exercise in today, people! Next data gathering is tomorrow. I'll probably be lower than I wanted unless I decide to count schlepping my kids all over Disney (though that didn't really raise my heart rate, just my blood pressure).

Annoyingly, we still can't enter the data. "Enter your data on April 10th" it says.. Wait, it IS April 10th. Isn't it?

Holy smokes! I'm up to date on my data logging and still 40 hours behind Jeff, who is a month behind. I'm having a bit of the late-in-the-semester-too-much-homework / mmm... Easter candy / late-night-Hockey-watching blues. If I don't put in at least an hour and a half tomorrow, when the weather is supposed to be great, someone roll down here and slap me.
