Subject: IM Canada volunteers?

I'm hoping to volunteer for IMC this year for the first time and wanted to hear about others experiences. Are you planning on it this year?
Have you attended or volunteered more than once?
Did you volunteer just to get to the registration the next day?

If I don't qualify I will be volunteering this year. I will have a couple friends racing so it would be cool to volunteer while they competed. I have to admit though, I would much rather be racing.

I volunteered last year and had a great time doing it.  I wasn't an official volunteer until the day of the race when SOMEBODY volunteered me.    They were more than happy to have all the help they could get.  We worked the bike lot.

I highly recommend it if you can.

Yes, I volunteered Derek since he was too lazy to do it himself. I got him a giant tshirt to wear and everything!

We had THE BEST TIME working in the bike lot!! You get to take the bikes from the people as they come in and I got to take Gordo Byrn's bike from him. And then I made Derek take my picture with it.

Volunteer!! You'll love it!

I will be riding the bike course the day before the race, volunteering, then registering for 2008.  i will be up cheering on my club and we usually have over 60 members race.  It's the best supported race anywhere and this is an anniversary year.

I volunteered last year.  I worked in food services in the finish area. It wasn't a glamorous job.  I would have rather worked in the bike lot.  I think my shift was over by about 5pm.  But my pit pass was good all day long.  I got to watch the finishers from behind the finish line, instead of being in the bleachers along the chute like the rest of the spectators.

I have a lot of personal rules about wearing garments from races, and the volunteer t-shirt is the only way I could own and wear and Ironman shirt without violating my own rules.

I spent that night with my tent on a sidewalk, waiting to register for 2007.  Only 156 days to go!!

Just look at that smile on her face!

Is that Tom Evan's bike with the Bonti disk?
