Subject: An apple for The Mac

Well, hope eveyone is sitting down:

Today I got my certification approval from the Florida Department of Education.  This means that I can now teach middle or high school (something I've wanted to do for awhile now).  Of course, there is some irony in this:  I am certified to teach, get this, SOCIAL STUDIES.  Yup, the one person in Florida with the least amount of social skills is certified to teach social studies.  Fortunately, social studies has little to do with social skills and more to do with economics, psychology, American history, and American  government a.k.a. POLITICS (that loud thump you heard was Rogillio hitting the floor ).

A little good karma for The Mac.  I love working with kids and look forward to a career change.  Now I just need to find a school where I won't get jumped somewhat close to home.  Will prolly wait until summer to make the move since there will be many more vacancies and I'll have more options of where I want to teach.

Say it with me class...."Good morning Mr. Mac!" or more appropriate to Miami "Buenos dias Senor Mac!"

Conrats Mac! I am not a certified teacher (yet) but I love working with kids too. As much as I loved my research job, this is much more fun/rewarding/fulfilling.

Awesome! And you'll have your summers for Tri's!!!

In another life I would have chosen teaching. One of the most important careers IMHO.

Maybe one day I'll make the same change you have!
