Hello, I am brand new to this whole thing! I just made my decision to join the multi-sports relm this past weekend!

So, really new! I have a dr's appt scheduled to be sure there aren't any hidden medical things I should know about. I meet with a nutritionist next Thursday and I met a gal online who has been training for IronMan for 1.5 Years. She is really helping a lot and I am considering her my mentor.

I don't know exactly how I am going to go about this, but am a FIRM believer in creating a CORRECT and SOLID foundation first. So these next few months are my "start up" and include tons of CORE work.

I had back surgery in 2001 so, I want to make sure that my back is strong and supported before diving in.

My plan after that is to take the next 9 months in 3 months increments and focus on each element of a tri. Running first then Biking then Swimming (during the summer months! *grin*). Plan is to have some coaching from sport specific coachs during those segments.

Along the way, I am planning to do some local runs ("local" = CA, AZ, NM, CO, NV and Mexico) in differing lengths.

I guess that is all I have "figured out" so far. If anyone has advice or thoughts on my penciled in plan, I would love any help you can offer!

Thanks and nice to meet you all!

Christi

Welcome Christi! It sounds like you have a good plan. Just make sure you keep it fun :-)

I'm not sure where in AZ you are but a really good race in Phoenix used to be the New Times 10k. I'm not sure if it is still going on out there. I still have a fondness for that race as it was my 10k PR that I probably won't ever beat.

Hi Christi

I just found this website and joined today too. I was just looking for a free on-line logbook and I found this site and it looks like a goldmine! Your introduction was at the top of the list and that you are from Arizona caught my eye as I am from Vancouver, Canada and have registered for Ironman Arizona. I hope you'll come out and cheer me on in April.

Cheers
Arnt

Welcome!  When you do your 3 month foci, do you plan to continue doing the other 2 sports at all?

Good luck with your training!

welcome...it sounds like a nice, conservative plan.  a doctor who understands your goals can be a great asset - at least if your back were to cause you any problems.  hope all goes well...u will do great.
