Subject: 20 week olympic program
Today was my first day on teh 20 week Olympic 3X balanced training program. Anyone else doing this one? Had fun on teh swim-bike today. Does anyone mix up bike and run or swim and run? Any advice much appreciated! Got a race date in June I'm shhoting for. Thanks! Carol

I'm on a sprint plan (week 9 of 12) that calls for all sports 3x per week.  I've stuck to it for the most part but have had to adjust for sick or busy days as needed.  I find the swim the hardest to move just because or the pool schedules at the gym and not wanting to swim on the weekends.  The bike and run I can move/swap as needed based on convenience.  The trick is to make sure you give yourself ample rest time between the big sport specific workouts (i.e. rest run day after a long run, or rest bike day after a long ride). 

One piece of advice my coaches game me was on days where I had 1 tought and 1 easy workout (say hill training on the run and just an endurance ride on the bike) was to do the tougher one first so you're fully rested and have enough power.

I used the 3x Oly plan last summer. You can mix and match as much as you like. Just make sure to folow the prescribed rest days and such. From my understanding, all the training plans are more like templates to be molded to your personal schedule and demands than something that is set in stone.

I am doing basically the same plan, and yes, I have changed it up. Several times actually, as I see what fits my schedule and see how my body responds to different workloads. Personally, I don't want to do a second workout on the day of my long run or long bike, and I like having a day off after my long run instead of before.

i'm doing the 16 week 3x balanced olympic plan. i switched around some of the days to fit with my schedule. i'll probably end up repeating a week or two b/c the plan ends two weeks before the main race i'm training for (Columbia Tri).
