Subject: USAT question
Has anyone signed up to join USAT? I see where if you run in 3 sactioned events you can get ranked as an age grouper. Has anyone done this or thinking about this? I was talking to a friend who says he is looking for sactioned events for this reason. I looked and by chance the 4 I have chosen are sactioned and it looks like 3 of the 4 actually turn in the results pretty consistantly. Plus I have also heard that I might as well since there is a fee for these events that it could be cheaper to join USAT anyway. Any thoughts?

I think there is something about the insurance too. If you are a member the insurance is free or cheaper so that joining saves you money after 3-4 races. This might be the same thing as the one day membership though, I'm not sure.

Since you are racing four races it would be the best bet. At each usat sanctioned event you are required to pay an additional fee, Lara says eight dollars but I thought it was nine, so you save at least two dollars maybe more.

I would urge you to sign up! You can also get an additonal discount if you are a memeber of a sanctioned tri club. I have been a member for two years and it has saved me money. You also get a magazine/newspaper several times per year.

I think I will sign up. It could also be kind of cool to have a USAT card. Use it as motivation to continue training. Thanks for all your input.
