Hi Dan,

I'm not in southern AL, but I'm in Huntsville. Just wanted to make contact and if you ever come up for an event, give me a shout and vice versa. Huntsville has some great events throughout the year. Not only tri's, but the Huntsville Track Club is outstanding here.

Nice sites. I will probably be up there (northern AL) at least once for an event next year. It must be great having such groups to constantly train and race with. I'm hoping to find some people around here, once I get myself up above the somewhat acceptable level of enduranc/training.

Are either of you doing the Tri up in Nashville in a few weeks... Old Hickory Lake Tri??? I wanted to do the Rocketman Tri but I have another commitment that weekend. The one at Old Hickory will be my first tri ever, hope it goes well.

I live in Opelika, but am just now starting training for a Tri. I hope to be ready by November or December. I guess that means I will have to wait until next season unless I can find one in Central or South Florida. Never know. Anyway there is a Montgomery Track Club and you can Google Auburn Opelika Road Track Association or AORTA. Hope this helps.

Sethro Out.

After several false starts I'm trying again to get into a tri training program. Mostly doing just swimming at the Bell Road Y (before or after work) and weight training at the downtown Y (during lunch) right now as the last time I really did any significant swimming was 3rd grade. Once I get my swimming up to a reasonable level I'll add in running and biking. Probably not up for much partnering right now as I'm just getting started, but happy to chat with anyone in the area.

I still haven't picked a sprint Tri to do next year - March/April. I have been looking at Georgia's Tri in the park series, but they haven't come out with 2007 dates yet.

Dan (in eastern Montgomery, work at Maxwell AFB)

doconnor, I live down form you in Dothan. I am probably about the same level of a beginner that you are, and can relate to how you feel about not wanting any training partners yet. I am planning  on rDoing the Panama City beach tri's next year.

Looks like it's been a while since anyone has posted here lately.  I am a newbie from Montgomery.  Just wanted to say hello and see if there were any other fellow Montgomerians still around.

You might have better luck lookign at who posted in this thread and send them an IM. For some strange reason Alabama does not have a huge tri following....

I had gotten excited for a minute until I read the dates of those other posts. I live about 100 miles west of Montgomery out in the sticks. You just think its hard to find training partners! Good luck.

Being in Montgomery, you're really not too far from me. I'm probably within a 2hr drive of you. And my folks are from the area, so we visit quite often.

Wouldn't be hard to meet up with you when we head down there. Any particular reason you mentioned Maxwell AFB?
