Subject: Tri-handle bar and road shifters question

On the cover of a Hammer Nutrition flyer (see attachment) there is a picture of what looks like a tri-bike but without bar-end shifters. Instead it appears as if they used regular road brake/shifters. What type of race is this setup used for? Draft-legal TT:s?

It looks pretty cool and after I saw the picture I have been toying with the idea of doing the same thing on my road bike. I hardly ever use the drops so I don’t think I will miss them. I am not strong enough or have the time to invest to aim for a top-10 finish in a race so I do not sprint. What would be the drawbacks of changing to the setup depicted in the picture?

In peace,

Jon

You lose a hand position (the drops).  There is no benefit from doing this to a road bike.
