Subject: Hi!
I'm Greg Pesot! I'm a married(heather) father of three boys (max(6), matt(4), and mick(2))

I've always exercised - mostly to maintain weight and stay healthy - lifted weights, running, rowing, etc. Had done running races for a couple of years until last summer and just got bored - singing the same song over and over in my head and was just looking for something a little more exciting!

I had always wanted to do a triathlon and started training two winters ago and did my first tri last summer - horrendous swim but nice bike and run - then I crashed last july and broke the collarbone and wrist - but recovered quick enough to do one more last labor day and did much better than my first since I knew what to expect.

so this past winter I upped my training volume and intensity a little bit and signed up for five sprints - did very well in the first three - skipped the fourth due to rough surf and my fifth is labor day weekend!

So I guess I do this for a few reasons - personal hobby, fitness, enjoyment, role model for my kids, weight maintenance, healthy body=healthy mind, etc.

I was posting on the "other" newbie forum but it seemed to get a little too serious - too much Ironman talk!

yeah...i think i saw your race report post...rough surf...?  i think i may have done the same thing given the situation...  i dont even like the surf the other racers give off...let alone extra.

good luck on labor day and hopefully a little calmer waters.

Welcome!  Sounds like you've had an awesome summer.

I'm originally from West Chester - always cool to see Philly area people on the boards!  Good luck with your next tri

Hi Greg,

I'm just getting started on the tri thing--shooting for my first next season--and have just started getting my feet wet (haha) on the swim and will on the run soon.  Probably not much of a training partner yet, but I live near Media (Upper Providence near Ridley Creek Park) so may be a possibility in the future.

Do you have a brother Jeff--formerly of The Prep & The 'Cuse?

John

Know Jeff from several places.  A small world grows smaller.  I'll PM the details.

I've just decided to get into the tri so at the moment I own only a hybrid bike, plan on buying my first pair of running shoes (at least intended for actual running) in over a decade this week, and have attempted swimming a grand total of 3x only to realize I need a lot of technique work in addition to the conditioning.  So it may take me a bit before I'm able to keep up much.
