Do you ever splurge and have 27 frosted shredded mini-wheat squares?

LOL! That's about what I was thinking!

I'll never give up fast/junk food. I prefer the McGriddle over the Egg McMuffin. I'm burning enough calories to where eating at these places every so often is not an issue. I like that food. I've gone without it for extended periods of time, but foods like Pastrami/Pizza/Fried Chicken/Burgers & Fries/Tacos/Beer are not gonna ever go away for me and quite frankly, I don't want them to go away.

Before the morning workout, I had a cup of cottage cheese with 1/2 cup of diced peachers. After the workout, I had 2 hard boiled eggs and an apple. I'm really trying to lean out for the latter half of this year, so I'm really trying to watch the diet. Some mornings I'll have oatmeal with some protein powder or a dab of peanut butter. And some type of fruit.

I will admit to liking and sometimes eating an Egg McMuffin (I had one Sunday after a grueling hilly ride). I love the McGriddle thingie too but I'll only eat 1 or 2 in a year.

Dam you and your evil McD talk. After a solid year of resistance, I gave in to the sirens song of the Oreo McFlurry.

Now is that up or down from what you weigh now???

I'm back down to 185 and shrinking (197 back in June when I rode Tahoe). I've been as heavy as 240.

Whiz, keep eating McDs, I'll keep eating healthy and we'll meet somewhere around 175 pounds.

No gargantuan diet Coke, either.

Aren't you HUNGRY after cottage cheese and diced peaches??? That wouldn't fuel me for more than 5 minutes! Unless it was a whole carton of cottage cheese and 3-4 entire peaches!!!

whizzer, did you see supersize me? the guy ate nothing but fast food for 30 days - he only ate what was on the mcdonald's menu - did damage to his liver, got fat, high cholesterol, and so on....on the same page as the book fast food nation, but more in your face about fast food and its effects on you personally....
good luck w/ this new diet....it may be helpful to you to keep a diary of what you're eating every day...especially the days when you're eating fast food....even you were grossed out when you saw what you had eaten on your mcD's splurges...

"How do you all avoid the siren song of McDonalds???"

Just don't go there.

Don't carry cash.

Read "Fast Food Nation."

Eat breakfast at home before getting in the car.

Well, I have for breakfast the same thing for over 8 months, almost everyday.

A Sandwish with Integral Bread, Fat Free Swizz Chesse and Fat Free Turkey Ham, with a glass of OJ.

Never got tired of my breakfast, i love it.

(1) What's the gelatin for? -- The gelatin is the poor man's glucosamin/chondroitin. A friend of mine (35 yr old avid runner) has been putting one packet/day in her coffee and after 1 month, has had all knee pain go away. She has quit wearing knee braces and has no problems. I figured I'd give it a shot. Here's a tip -- if you go to the store, get the kind for cooking, not the kind specifically marketed for joints. The latter is twice as expensive for no good reason. Anyway, once you stir it into the coffee really well (a few minutes) you can't taste it. I've been on it for a little over a week. I'll try to report on the progress in a month.

(b) Do you ever splurge and have 27 frosted shredded mini-wheat squares? -- Absolutely I just have problems with portion control. A large portion of shredded wheat biscuits does not fill up the bowl at all, much like grape nuts. I like seeing a full bowl so I have to watch out or I'll dump way too much in the bowl.

For awhile there, I was dumping in freeze dried strawberries, but that's just extra unnecessary calories.

Ooh if you get a headache, drink something caffienated. I get headaches when I miss my only cup of coffee in the morning.

Good luck on your reformation!

Nice job on the PB&J. Avoidance of McDs is the key.

I agree with people to a point about one mcmuffin not being many calories. But do look where the calories are coming from....they aren't so hot for you. In my youth I worked at McD's and saw how things were cooked.....not so great

Also, I think a lot of people aren't able to contain themselves to just a mcmuffin.....McD's makes it too easy to add food to your order. I know.....I had that problem and it was better for me to just avoid McD's then try and make a small order. My will-power just isn't strong enough.

Usually I don't have breakfast but for the past two weeks I've been having the Bacon'n'Egger combo at A&W with a large coffee. Oh, but I am a bad boy ... which is probably why I still weigh 214 lbs!

Subject: Cottage Cheese and peaches...
Hey Whizzer:

I am not a morning person! This tri thing has gotten a hold of me and makes me get up. I know that I need something, but my stomach is not awake, so before I go swim or ride, I will try to have something. So I eat a little cottage cheese and peaches or a piece of toast with some sort of nut butter. When I finish the workout, then I eat something else. Like this morning, Masters Swim is from 6-7, I have to leave the house at 5:30. I got up, had to have my coffee, made 2 pieces of toast with almond butter (I use the light bread), but I only at one piece. After I finished I'm starving, so I just ate a boiled egg. I lucky we have a cafeteria at work, so I'm off now to get some oatmeal. I probably eat.

I love food, but I would like to drop about 7 pounds. I lost 20 pounds but put 5 back on and it has been a never ending battle for the last 5. I love McDonald's but only breakfast and yeah that McFlurry thing too!

I know you said you like Coke, can you switch to diet? That'll save some calories. It is an acquired taste for sure...

Ug! Diet Coke is nasty stuff.

Did you guys hear about how regular sodas directly contribute to type II diabetes? I think I'll have some juice, thank you.

I'm a Diet Coke Junkie. I'm giving it up (trying at least, I may have one with lunch... maybe just a medium, not a supersize)...Drank coffee this AM and a liter of water. Been peeing like a crazy woman. So far so good.... It's 12:42, though, and time for lunch now!!!
