Subject: Hello from Nor Cal!
Hi there. I'm a newbie to the Tri thing and I'm really excited about getting involved and getting started. I live near Sacramento and my husband is also training as well. I signed up for the Tri, Girl, Tri in October in Napa Valley. I'm very excited about training for it, but very nervous too

I have pretty much let myself go since I've been married and I've finally had enough. I was a competitive swimmer (year round) from age 7-12. It was amazingly intense now that I look back, but an amazing experience. Then I did some summer rec swimming and then swam varsity for my high school freshman and sophomore year. I wish I would have never given it up. Live and learn.

I bought my first road bike and have been hitting the American River trail on the weekends with my husband and his friends (Triathletes and one of them will be participating in his third IM this summer!) and trying to get some trainer time in about 2-3 days a week.

I've never had the best running abilities and don't plan on tackling that until I lose a bit more weight. My knees have never done anything wrong to me so I want to treat them right and keep it lo-impact for a bit

I'm very excited about this website and I have been learning alot!

Yeah, just click on the blue notebook at the top of your screen. There is plenty of stuff you can log everyday

Welcome!! I am new also and have been amazed at this site and how helpful it is. There is so much for you to log in. I agree that you need to be diligent and log all of your training. Log in your nutrition in as well.

Some advice from one BT newbie to another, print out all of the log how to's. You can get those by going to your training log, click on any blog or calendar view in actual or planned log and look for a question mark in blue on the top righthand of the screen. There is a lot of information there and I find that you can use it for quick reference when logging. This will help you from making mistakes in logging.

Once again, welcome. Everyone here is very helpful and supportive.

Yeah I know who they are. I saw them at the Ice Breaker in Granite Bay last April. I got to school at UC Davis and see them every once in awhile, but man. Madcows are hardcore. I'm not even close their level.

Welcome! There's another great women's tri series down in Fremont and Santa Cruz also called Mermaid, if you're interested. I might have to check out this Napa one. Good luck in your training, and good job taking it easy at first.

Let me pile on one more "Belated" welcome - always nice to see another addict athlete from northern California.  Good luck with the training, and yes, respect those knees, take everything in small increments, and train for the long term - i.e. make this a life style change!!

See you around,

Dennis

Welcome!  I am a newb also, I've been on the site for a few months but my first tri isn't 'til 4/22.  In early May I am moving to Brentwood, CA not too far from Sac-town.  Maybe I'll meet you guys at a race.
