Your opinion on sunscreen

When I wear sunscreen my skin does not burn, hurt like a SOB,  and peel.  I think that is a good indicator of it's effectiveness.   Before sunscreen people wore hats and long sleeves to work outside.   Also before 50 years ago, you would just die of cancer complications without knowing you had cancer.  Without biopsies and x-rays, etc.  How would you even know you had it?   Plus 100 years ago life expectancy was around 60, now it is pushing 80. 

If you hate putting on sunscreen, just put it on when you do stuff in the sun.  You don't need it all day everyday.   5 mins to put on sunscreen is worth it to me.

Please use  sunscreen. Even if it's a pain in the arse.  I just went through a pre-cancerous(sp) treatment on my bottom lip and it totally sucked.  Imagine if you can, having you entire bottom lip an oozing,bleeding scab for about 5-6 weeks. I have some pictures I'll be glad to PM you if you need any more motivation.  It's hard to eat, drink, sleep, talk, go out in public, train, etc.  It sucked.  And it was only on my bottom lip and it was pre-cancerous.  Years of surfing, going to the beach and being an outdoors person took it's toll.  I am pretty young(in my mind) 42.
Put the stuff on or dress accordingly.  But don't kid yourself.  Cancer is no fun.  You want to avoid it at all costs! I make sure to use lip protection all the time and sunblock the rest whenever I am going to be outside more than 20 mins.  They have some really good stuff now, that's super easy to apply and works great.  Anyways, I hope this helps.

I've seen plenty of skin cancers patients that would gladly trade the minor irritation of putting on sunscreen for months long nausea, vomiting, excutiating pain, and ultimately death from advanced cancers.

I am pretty diligent about putting sunscreen on 3 times a day.  I do pest control and I either have my arm out the window or am out doors walking around.  Starting about 26-27 years ago I started breaking out with itchy hives if I don't wear sunscreen (I promise they keep me awake).  I am missing a chunk of the top of my left ear because I missed a spot, got burnt.ouch!!  I use minimum SPF 30 and still tan quite nicely though.

Bottom line:  USE SUNSCREEN!!! 

Tanning is skin damage, just as a burn is!!

WEAR YOUR SUNSCREEN PEOPLE!!!!!!

I burn easily in the sun - and wearing sunscreen is worth it to me just for the fact that I don't have to go through the pain of sunburn.  Let alone the fact that I don't want to get skin cancer.

I use spray-on sunscreen as I can't feel it, and that's the biggest drawback of sunscreen to me.

And dude, stop trying justify not wearing it w/ internet stories that basically say that once it wears off you need to reapply it.  Duh.  And - you put two links and they are to the SAME article?  What's up with that?

Visit some people who have cancer and ask them whether sunscreen is worth the trouble.

I make sure every skin product I use has an spf rating.   I even have my very dark husband wearing it!
