Looking forward to this!

Initial BF:  21.4%

Goal BF:  17%

At current weight, that translates to about a 7# loss, but I'm not sure what the weight will be, and I'm really only concerned with body composition now.

Thanks for all you've done, Jim, and good luck to our new leader!  If I fail to achieve my goal, I reserve the right to place all blame on Brian.

Hello All!

I'm new here and found this place while looking to get back into the sport after 12 years of inactivity and 40 pounds being added to my frame. This looks like a great site! Everyone seems very supportive. I'm looking to do the "Mountain Man" triathlon in late July in Flagstaff, AZ. Had a lot of fun doing them through the 90's, and I'm hoping it's going to be as fun as I remember them to be.

Starting BF% - 28% Checked 4 days ago.
Goal BF% - No idea

Starting Weight - 212
Goal Weight - 195

Brian,

This morning I was riding the trainer, so of course my mind was wandering, and it occurred to me that just tracking body fat percentage might not get me where I actually want to be.  So, I want to change my goal to a net loss of 10 pounds of actual body FAT over the course of this challenge.  I'll calculate each week how I'm coming along for you, and all you'll have to do is enter the results.  Sorry to confuse matters, but that's what I do best, and it's really hard for me to stop.

Starting weight (March 21): 161.8

Goal weight: 155 (That is a little lower than I was thinking, but hey why not think "small"

Body fat %: Don't know - will try to get it checked at the gym soon

Goal body fat %: I'll go with Electra's idea and say down 2% from whereever I am (don't think I can do 3%)

Go Team SKINNNY!!!!!!!!

Hello Team Skinny,

I'm in for another round!

Starting weight 145.
Goal Weight 139.9.

I'm not sure about body fat %.  Thanks for the suggestions about the gym and that BF calculating scale.  Unfortunately, I won't be able to get access to either for a bit.  So, I'm not sure what to do.  But, I hope that I can still be on the team!

Since there's a new person keeping track of our losses (thanks to the people who do this for us!), my name on the team roster is naisqu.  I changed it a couple of months ago, and caused some confusion

Hi! I'd like to join. I've been having some luck with the Sonoma diet and look forward to starting summer a little lighter!

My current weight: 171.5.
My goal weight: 152.

Not sure what my bodyfat percentage is. I'll look into getting it tested. I know I'd be pretty inaccurate myself with a pair of calipers.

As far as BF% goes it doesn't matter how you come up with a number as long as it is repeatable.  I have no doubt that my Tanita scale is not correct, but the relative reading is what I am looking forward to going down.  If this helps get some kind of measurement:  A health food/gym trainer person told me if you pinch an inch at your (I'll say belly button) the body fat is the distance between your fingers.  A credit card is about 1% 10 credit cards 10%.  Is this an accurate gauge, probably not, but it will tell you if the distance is getting smaller  (less BF) or greater (more BF)

Maybe just to clarify, the start of the challenge was way back in November, '06.  Do we want to dump those old numbers and start with our present weight?
