Subject: LA events in July??
I will be in LA for job training for the entire month of July and I was wondering if all of those familar with the area have any suggestions for events in July either in or near LA. I would like to do an olympic tri but a sprint would be great too. Thanks so much in advance for any help.

for seome reason, July always seems light.  I don't have any tris on my calendar, I'd check trifind.com.

I have a 7/4 5K and playa del run, an swim /run aquathon, on July 22.  google paya del run for details

yeah I looked at active.com to see if there were any events and I couldnt really find much. Thanks for the info, Ill try to figure something out...

Castaic Lake triathlon is in late July .
Small event , sprint distance , short lake swim , nice park setting , no wetsuit needed, No need to book in advance
Just Show up 1 hour before and its $50

Also Paseo Club in Valencia has a sprint event around July 4th .
Again Small event , 400m pool swim , sprint distance

Great training Races

Both events are 45 mins drive north of LA off the 5 freeway.

Have to say that even though Carlsbad is a sprint, this is a great event.

Run course is mostly the same as the Carlsbad 5000. (Not totally flat but very fast)

Swim is ocean and Transition is right on the beach.

Oh; Looking for a ride to the race:

Amtrak has trains from Los Angeles to Oceanside (Just north of Carlsbad).
