Subject: 75 miles again - time time with fuel
Just got back from a 75 miler and tried out my new and improved fuel plan.  On the 1/2 hrs I ate a gel pack at 110 calories and on the hours I ate a Cliff bar at 245 calories.  I brought three 20 oz bottle of Gatorade but only drank 2 of the 3 bottles.  The bottle are 130 calories.
.
Distance:  75.19 miles
Ride time:  4:25:42
Avg Speed (bike comp): 17.13 mph
Net Avg Speed:  16.96 mph
Total Fuel:  1400 calories  (also had about 500 calories for breakfast)
Fluids:  50 oz water + 40 oz Gatorade = 90 oz
.
I should have (and could have) drunk much more water but I was carrying the water in a camelback and had no idea how much was left and didn't want to run out so I didn't drink as much as I probably should have.  Turns out I only drank about half of what was available!  So lesson learned here.
.
I felt pretty good the whole way and did not have any cramping this time.  I still had no burning desire when I got off my bike to go run a marathon but I don't feel as tired as I did last week.
.
It will be interesting to see how my long run goes tomorrow.  Last week, on my long run (following my 75 Saturday bike ride with hardly any fuel) I ran out of gas at about 8 miles and barely made my 10 miler.  Since hopefully I didn't totally deplete my stores today tomorrow's run with be much better.

for that reason why do you do your long run after your long ride?

The weekends is the only time I can dedicate the time for a long run and a long bike ride.  I like to run and ride in the mornings when it's cooler.  There is less traffic on Sundays and I don't like to run with traffic.  I can't bike Sunday mornings anyway becuase we go to chuch -  I can get in a long run but not a long bike ride on Sunday mornings.
