Hey ya'll! I'm a newbie into the word of fitness...unless mowing the lawn and walking to and from your car count. I have no idea how my adventure into becoming a triathlete will fair but I'm not going to just TRY at it...I will do it. I don't know exactly why I have chosen this particular arena...maybe I'm A.D.D. and need that interchanging of sports to keep my interest. No offense to actuall ADD people intended.

At any rate, I just wanted to give a quick "hey". I've started my training log which gives a little more info if your interested or just want to get a weekly laugh at my trials and tribulations.

See ya in the threads!
Chas

Hey Chas, welcome to your new life and welcome to the forum. I applaud your determination to change your life around and to becoming a triathlete. Just do not jump into the running too quickly. Go to a reputable running store and get a good pair of running shoes. Start off slowly and remember to stretch A LOT before and after. Your mountain bike will be fine for training and even for your first few tri's. AND, make sure that Santa learns about what bike will be best suited for your nees before he goes and picks it up for you by browsing the bike shops and scanning bike reviews!

I think the main satisfaction will come from proving to myself and others than I am not only proficient in one discipline, but all three. I'm looking to do my 1st tri in mid 05 but will do some 5K, 10K, 1/2 marathon leading up to it as running is my weakest discipline. Another great thing about training for tris is that if you are having a bum day and dont feel like running... you can swim... or bike! You dont get worn out as easily on one repetitive routine

I like that aspect alot....the changing of training routines!  Especially with Winter heading in before too long.  I fret over how I am going to get outside in the cold weather and the blistering wind we have here in Oklahoma.  Hey!  There is a thought!  I could just run against the wind in my front yard! With the wind it will be like being forced to run in place! *L*

Thanks again for the warm welcome!
