Anyone else doing this race? I'm curious about the course since they seem to change it according to the kind of permits they get.

Can anyone fill me in on basic stuff:
Usual temps to expect
Do they usually run on black tarmac or will they actually make use run on the hard concrete, jumping sidwalks, etc.?

Yup, I'm doing it, 3rd one out of 5.

Here is the course map http://www.nyrr.org/races/2007/pdf/brooklyn_half_map.pdf

I did the Manhattan and the Bronx and we ran in the street. If you check out the map, Ocean Pkway is a huge street, so I would assume it is on the tarmac.

As for temps i would say somewhere in the 40s

I ran it last year and we ran on the inner roadway of Ocean Parkway up to the park. I remember the aid stations being a little further apart than I would have liked.

A bit of unsolicited advice. I drove to Prospect park early, parked my car and then took the train down to Coney for the start. This way when I was done I got in my car and went home as opposed to taking the train back to coney after running a half marathon. They have bag check at the start. You put your bag on a bus and the bus meets you at Prospect Park.

Also There weren't enought port a potties at the start last year.

Yep, did it for the first time this year. Never ran in Brooklyn before, and I didn't know Prospect Park was so hilly. Regardless, weather conditions were great. Boardwalk run was sketchy for some people. Saw a lady trip on the planks and several people just manage to dodge her as she fell.

Yeah, I saw a couple of people hit the deck as well. It was a great run. The weather was great. I totally overdressed because last year it was very windy and much colder at the start. I stripped off my base layer minutes before the start and carried it in my rear pocket the whole way.

My first time this year as well. I thought the weather was great and it was pretty well managed. Looking forward to beating my time next year!
