Subject: Change of date for IMAZ?
A while back, there were some posts about FL and AZ races switching times of the year starting in 2008/2009...does anyone know more about this? I am planning on racing AZ in 2009, but may need to rethink this if the dates are changed. Thanks!

I've emailed them twice...because I'm hoping that IMAZ 2008 will be in fall, as there were some rumors circulating about that. But I never got a response.

The date was just posted for 2008 and it is in April...so if there is a change, not next year...

Having just returned from IMAZ, I really don't see a date change in the near future. The date corresponds with the ASU College spring break, so adding 2500 athletes and their families doesn't really overcrowd the town too much. The other times for college breaks are summer and Christmas. Putting the race during the summer college break would be a horrible idea with the summer heat, I don't think a Christmas IM would be a big seller, and the in the fall the race would have to work around the college football season (the course is right next to the stadium).
I know it is difficult for people in the colder climate to train for an early season race, but IMAZ may be best suited for this time of year.
