I have enjoyed the website and the forum now for a couple of months, so I guess it is time. I've been told I have a tendency to be anti-social and I am generally a soloist. Maybe that's the appeal of triathlons. I turned forty this year and resolved to get myelf in better shape than ever. I have always been active and fairly fit, just not much for endurance. Anyway, I am hooked and this website has been a great source of information, education and inspiration. I am hoping to participate in my first tri in Oct. My goal is simply to finish!

Welcome - yeah I know it's a bit ironic being welcomed by such a fellow newbie, but ... I guess I got here first
You mentioned you are a rather solo person and that since triathlons are an intense, individual sport - it makes me wonder if that is a common characteristic of triathletes. I think it makes some sense anyway, and stands true for me also (come in more on the introverted than extroverted end of the scale!)

Anyway, good luck with the training, Oct will be here soon!

Welcome!

My first two tris are in October also; I can't wait.
Build endurance and speed will soon follow (or so I was told)
Good luck!

Hey John,

I checked your logs.  I could go stride for stride, stroke for stroke with, rev for rev with you this month.  Next month you will be able to leave me in the dust, because I figure you got lots of upside potential.  Have fun.  Post whatever you are thinking.
