day b4 i will eat brown pasta with chicken, rice and steak, oats and banannas.
its just balanced normal eating anyway.

i hour b4 any workout i top up with a kellogs nutri grain bar.

b4 weightlifting events, i use maximuscle viper bar.{to top up}
but this has caffieen, so i wont use this for the ironman.

people should note that carbloading, is for bodybuilders, who have been in a depleted carb state for weeks, even mounths b4 a competition. they load carbs the night b4 to carbload the muscle, to make the muscle pump up against the skin.
since they have been on low carbs for so long it has a dramatic affect.

in triathlon sports, peole usually have to be {carb} loaded in the first place for going long, so it makes little sence to me,why you should increase and change your eating habits the day b4 a race and risk up setting things.

WELCOME TO MOOOOOOOOOOOOOE'S!!!
They used to have one of those 1/2 block from my work off the UW campus. Too bad it's gone, but, there are a number of other places down on State St., like Chipotle's.

Too bad! Chipotle can't hold a candle to Moes!!!

Another vote for not carbo loading, but for some reason almost always end up eating pizza!

I don't intentionally carb load, i tend to do that naturally anyway.  i like a spinach and carrot salad with ranch dressing, two slices of pizza (lots o'meat usually), and bit of pasta.

the morning of I have my Labrada protein shake and a lot of electrolytes including 2500mU of potassium.

Pasta Putanesca

It is a light sauce made with Crushed Tomotoes, Olives, Capers and Anchovies

My only fear is smelling like fish in an ocean swim. (Might Attract the Sharks)

Moes...mmmm... We had two Moes in Gainesville. I sure miss it. I tend to get the John Coctostan. But I've had my share of the Homewrecker.

I haven't had that pre-race though. I've eaten at places like TGI Fridays for dinners pre-race the last couple of times I ran a half/full marathon. I didn't especially like it. It was really close to my hotel. I just try to keep to foods that aren't too spicy and stay far away from alcohol. I never feel good the next morning after a beer or two.

When Bobby Flay ran the NYC Mary last year, they published his pre-race meal in Runners World,  so I made it before my first tri.  It's actually pretty good any time.

Whole wheat pasta w/garlic-infused olive oil, chopped turkey bacon, chopped parsley, and a little grated parmesan.

chris hughes - 2007-04-19 12:04 AM Homewrecker from Moe's (it's a burrito). Spaghetti with meatballs is a close second.
Can't go wrong with the Homewrecker. Best burrito ever made.

What is in said burrito?

http://www.moes.com/burritos.aspx I go with rice, black beans, steak, cheese, salsa, guacamole, sour cream, lettuce, jalepeno's and tomato's. very good burrito and its HUGE.

Hmmm sounds like my favorite burrito at my fav. burrito place up here:

"The namesake Ketchum Burrito is a real winner, stuffed with chicken or beef, beans, cheese, rice, guacamole, tomatoes, salsa, and sour cream."   it also has jalepenos

bryancd - 2007-04-19 10:44 AM At this point, the entire carbo loading concept has been shown to be more myth than science. The reality is you should eat whatever it is you would normally eat on any given day. The night before the race is not a time to try somehting new, just do what you would under normal circumstances. The week leading into the race, sure, have some more carbohydrate like pasta , rice, potaoes and add a little extra sodium and lot's of water. Otherwise, just be normal. This is one of those People Overthinking Stuff things I try and advocate against.

What would you know?  It's not like your fast or kicked butt at IMAZ or anything...some people!
