I'm in too. I guess that means I have to weigh myself...which I've been actively avoiding for the last month.

Are we starting on Friday the 10th? Or should we weigh ourselves now then report a change on Fri?
This is exactly what I need!!!

OK I'm in. After losing 40 pounds I'm stuck in the 220s. Want to be below 200 by December. I've got 40 pounds to lose in 17 weeks. Wish me luck.

The 1st weekly checkin is Friday 9/10. Weigh yourself NOW to get your starting weight. (Or use your last weigh in weight)

You have to use a "starting" weight that is somewhat close to your "current" weight on Friday. No fair saying you've lost 20 pounds already cause that's what you've done since the beginning of the year.

We are ALL starting off in the same boat at "Weight Loss 0", the first weekly weigh-in is FRIDAY 9/10 and is the official end of Week 1. If you want to fudge a bit you can, just not over 2 pounds please (unless you did really lose more than 2 pounds). This is pretty much so we can hopefully post some progress already this week, but if you want start at 0 as in:

Week 1:
Weigh in weight: x, Pounds lost: 0, Current Weight: Still X

Then you are starting at 0 gained/lost on Friday, 9/10.

PS - if you GAINED weight this week (that's no one right? right?) then just for week 1, ignore that weight gain, pretend like it never happened, and use your Friday weigh-in weight as your beginning weight.

If this post was as clear as mud, I have done my job.

This isn't complicated enough yet, so...
The forums will be down this Friday and maybe Saturday for an upgrade, so we should get our baseline weights in before that. How about we put in our baseline weights now and next week starts the Friday updates?

Name suggestions: Friday Fatties, The Dumpty Derby (ala the Adam comic strip), From Guts To Glutes!

I am 142 to start.

I read somewhere that the average person gains 6 pounds between Thanksgiving and New Years, so if we lose weight, it should count more. I figure it this way: If I were the average person I would weigh 148 by New Years, but with the help of this group, I may weigh 137 - which using my "new" math is a weight-loss of 11 pounds. Capiche?

Lol, I like that. Just add 6 or so pounds onto your starting weight and Voila! You are already in the weight-loss black! You lost 6 pounds almost overnight!

BTW - We will start TOMORROW MORNING, THURSDAY - since the board is going to be down on Friday.

I'm in at 150 (and holding since March) AAGGRRRHHHHHH First tri in 9 days provided Ivan doesn't cancel it again. Have a good weekend everyone. I have decided that the only way to lose weight is to not eat. my current strategy is to eat enough that I don't pass out. Godd luck everyone -S

ok! I am in too! Derreck finally arrived and my training is wrecked, my eating is indulgent, and not only do I have to look great next month at the wedding, I have another tri at the end of the month.
And since my sister is going to be Hottie-Houston-Tri-Mamma (above), Bootygirl better get her groove on!

The Plateau is going to be subjected to some catastrophic erosion! (a little geological humor).

Starting date: today
Starting weight: 164

As for a name - I am against anything with "fattie" in it!
How about Gut-bustin'-Triathletes
Lean, mean, tri-machines

I guess those are more like team names....

Sue - don't be so restrictive your training and race suffer! The machine needs fuel!

Oh, Gads....
you know it's time to lose weight when the pair of pants you bought 3 weeks ago and you've never worn....do not fit!!!!
I weighed myself and have gained 6 pounds over the last 3 montths!
What the heck is up with that???

Okay, I have my starting weight.
I'm in.

Nevermind....I guess it helps to read the board before you make a post

Jerry

Cadreamer or Madkat,

How about starting a new thread....Call it..."Our team name" Weight Loss Challenge - Start... Then everybody can post their starting weight to that thread...Then every week, start a new thread...."Our team name" Weight Loss Challenge - Week X...and we can post the new info on our progress. Just an idea.

Jerry

P.S. It is very hard to type a message while eating an apple. This took almost 5 minutes to write. :) :o :o :o

Hey,
for everybody over here in the "Weight Loss Challenge" thread - psssttt... there's a new thread the "Weight Loss Challenge - OFFICIAL WEEK 1" - jump on in there if you like, or just jump on to the Week 2 thread which will be started next week.

There will be a new thread started each week (I will start it) and then everyone can post their results etc.
