Since it's hasn't been "sunscreen" season so far, I haven't given it much thought, but does anyone have suggestions for sunscreen that doesnt' retain heat or affect your body's ability to sweat?

I swear by the Bullfrog SPF 45.  It's not a gel sunscreen, so you don't have to worry about that.  It's also got more physical blocks (titanium dioxide, etc.) than regular sunscreens, so it lasts a little longer and doesn't sweat off as much.  I've been using it for years and hate using anything else now.

Bullfrog rocks!  I've never burned with it- it's the best!  It also comes in pump and you can spray it on.  It's not greasy either- love it!

I move so fast I have to worry about wind burn, not sunburn (ha ha).  I will have to try the bull fron out this summer. I also try to go to the tanning (in my case burning) bed a few times a week year round so I don't burn as easily.  That way for short racing and rides I don't need to wear anything.  It is cheesy to tan in my opinion but so is wearing spandex but I do that also.

X3 on the Bullfrog. I go with the Quik Gel SPF 36 waterproof, sweatproof, goes on easy, dries quickly, leaves no residue.

Nobody's mentioned this yet - so...

Kinesys spray-on.  Hands down the best sunscreen I've ever tried.  I won't buy anything else now.

My problem is that most sunscreens I can FEEL on my skin and it bugs me.  Kinesys I can't, and it is sweatproof and waterproof.  Although, if you're doing a 3+ hour thing you probably want to reapply at some point.

Don't put on any above your eyes!  It will sweat into your eyes and burn like hell.  Wear a hat.  Good luck Ben,  and have fun!

Also you should not put on sunscreen when you get to the race, put it on beofre you leave your house. This will give your body time to absorb more of the sunscreen benefits as well as keep it working during the swim and sweating. On the bottle of coppertone it says to actually put it on at least 30 mins beofre sun exposure and then reaply later in the day.

Also second the hat suggestion though.
