I will restrain myself from using my spelling coaching abilities and simply say:

Welshy needs a neurologist's advice, sans actual examination. That thread was made for you/y'all!

Capt.-

As a newbie, I took your advice and checked your blog first before responding.  All I have to say is... Damn you have some nice bikes!!

p.s.  You are my 3 year old son's favorite character.  Because of Capt Jack Sparrow, we must sword fight every night in the living room.

That is awesome!

BTW:
Thanks for the comments on the rides. Their engine is weak, but I’m happy with them otherwise. Maybe if I rode them a little more…

Since you're not going there, then I'm not going here:

When you ask a question on the forums and get a billion jokes, joke pics, and people teasing each other that far outnumber the number of serious posts that are actually helpful to your question (which was, in fact, serious). Especially when you didn't post in COJ but the main forum. When you have to scroll through 3 pages of crap to get to the 5 helpful posts that are now buried.

But that's never happened, so I can't go there.

(The pirates are in a mood today. )

CptnJackSparrow - 2007-05-11 11:32 AM I wondered: Why do people who have no experience to fall back on, or who have shown some improvement in their ability, but still have A LOT to learn, feel obligated to answer training/equipment/whatever related questions??? Really… some people should STOP and THINK before saying, “Gee… I fell into a puddle once so I am qualified to answer a question about swimming efficiency.” (NOTE: That was a fictitious example.) But, as I said, I’m not going to go there…
This forum is so friendly (most of the time) that most posts are well intended and supportive with their advice, unfortunately sometimes times those posts are just repeating certain info read on some magazine/website and the specific advice might not necessarily apply to the OP. And considering that most around here are beginners looking for tri training guidance, I think it is important to be careful what sort of info we pass along.

I know, when I 1st came here I had so little understanding about tri training that I was easy influenced and overwhelmed by the advice around here. I would scramble from plan to plan and change my approach every week depending on what new info I could find in mags/websites/here, IOW my plan was a mess. Then I begin to listening to those with more experience (based on their logs and their advice) such as bear and I remember him calling BS in some posts and getting into more than a few arguments, but I appreciate he did because I learned a lot. (And I still do)

It is clear that more than a few are bothered when I or anyone else challenges their advice and take things personally. But if someone is posting bad advice I don’t have a problem to point that out because in the end my intention is not to prove someone wrong but to help the OP with tri training. As Jim mentioned, posters and/or coaches might disagree and that happens all the time in many aspects of our lives, (otherwise you guys wouldn’t have so many topics to discuss about here at COJ ) but as long as the discussion is helpful and we can learn from it I think it is good for the forum.

As my grandfather used to say, "Well, I don't know much about it, but..." (followed by advice on said subject)
