Subject: Now I am officially an OFFROAD Triathlete Did the Whiskeyman man today - what a wild ride!!! Swim was great (the first time I have been able to say that about an open water swim ) the bike portion was 10 miles of goat trails, that I held a blistering 4.88 miles per hour pace!!!! We (meaning the pack of riders I was with ) spent at least an hour, either horsing the bikes up hills that were too steep to ride, or manhandleing them down hills that were too dangerous to ride. The run was pretty uneventfull, except all the time spend hiking on the bike portion, finished off my legs before the run was over, and I had to do a lot of walking to stretch my quads out. See race report for all the details.
In terms of experiances, I would definetly recommend Offroad tri if you get a chance (and have a bike to use ). I learned more about how my bike handles, how to shift, and how to brake in the 2 hours today than I have learned the last 2 years of training.
