Lake Geneva Tri is over and so is this season for me. We Chris, Cindy, and I had a great time. I was very pleased with my overall time and thanks to the warm swim up last week my swim this week was much more comfortable. Now for the funny, frustrating part. T1 went well, I spotted my bike just fine. T2 was a bit more difficult. For my first two tri's I used a GREY towel for my spot. I ran up and down my aisle looking for a grey towel. Well, it was dark when I set up and I didn't realise I had grabbed a BLUE towel. So in my mind, I'm cutting a minute or two off my T2 time. :-)
i have a big blue pak-towel that i use for swimming. nothing special. i have thought seriously about moving my daughter giant neon pink dinosaur honker horn to my road bike for tris. i planned to do it for my last race, but forgot. would make for easy spotting of the bike in all sorts of ways. would it be wrong to put a pink dinosaur on a celeste bianchi? hee hee.
Hey Rookie - you have a medical condition - blue-grey colour blindness ;-) I think you should get extra credit for competing with a disability ;-) ;-) Dx
I just use an old blue, purple, and red beach towel. I sight my yellow bike as opposed to the towel because it generally stands out more. In my last tri, I did go towards another bike that was yellow but noticed that it had a black saddle. I did not stop, I kept running toward that spot and scanned ahead. I spotted mine one row ahead and ran to it without breaking stride. Just lucky I guess. Oh, and the towel; it got torn when I picked it up because it was wedged under the bike stand!
That's what I do. I "appropriated" the kids' old beach towels for my swim-training use. Sometimes it's a "Where's Waldo?" towel. There's also a bright red Chicago Blackhawks towels that I use sometimes. Kanga and Roo, if I'm really desperate.....Whatever's clean when I need a towel, I guess.
