Sunny
Total Time = 1h 30m 57s
Overall Rank = 472/619
Age Group = 40-44
Age Group Rank = 26/35
Pre-race routine:

up early, breakfast, head to race. Forget stuff, turn around, go back home. Good thing I live close. Had Bike shop guy take care of bar end problem, set up transition area.
Event warmup:

none
Swim
  • 12m 45s
  • 440 yards
  • 02m 54s / 100 yards
Comments:

kicked in the face right after the start and never got my goggles to stop leaking after than. Led to a crappy swim, much slower than Hyannis I.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

crappy T1 as well. Felt like I had used way too much energy in the swim and walked to bike instead of running. Suit was stuck but I was tugging on the chip strap thinking the suit would not come off.
What would you do differently?:

pay attention to the chip strap and run to the bike.
Bike
  • 40m 23s
  • 10 miles
  • 14.86 mile/hr
Comments:

1st time racing on new bike. Handlebars were loose and I had to stop to readjust before killing myself. Time includes T1 & T2, but overall I was happy with the bike leg.
What would you do differently?:

become more familiar with this bike.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

went ok, nothing spectacular or craptacular. Smooched hubby on the way out as he wsa working in the transition area.
What would you do differently?:

use split function on my watch so I would know what my transition times were.
Run
  • 37m 48s
  • 3.6 miles
  • 10m 30s  min/mile
Comments:

did a 7/1 run/walk combo and felt strong the whole way. This was my best run of the season and almost 4 minutes faster than Hyannis I.
What would you do differently?:

train more for the run.
Post race
Warm down:

hubby brought me water, Matt found me, then I found some food. Ok, ice cream :)

What limited your ability to perform faster:

do I have to answer this again?? ;)

Event comments:

Stayed for awards but no hardware this time. Lots of new Athenas around so I was out of the running at #5. I did win some HammerGel in the raffle, the last ticket picked too.

Once the little "nit-picky" things are worked out, that time will drop.  It's funny sometimes how much you lose with the goggles, the wetsuit, the handlebars.  I bet there was at least another 5 minutes there.  But good race anyway.  The way I figure it is your knee problems go away over the winter and you end up doing the entire run next Spring non-stop.  Looking forward to Hyannis I next year!

Good job!! You are a speedy cyclist, loose handlebars and all!  Just wait until they are fixed!!  Sorry to hear about the leaky goggles...you made it through despite this...nothing can stop the competitor in you!

Is this the last of the season?  Will you have to join me in the sad brigade?

Jen

Sorry it took so long to respond (too long getting back after my last effort). Great job! Your run times are just as good if not better than mine so you will not hear me complainng about them This year was a rebuilding year ( kind of like the B's if they ever play) Next will have the improvements. (PATS perfect season) enjoy the off season and good luck with classes and the family
