Yay - I got in the pool today. I highly dislike training for the swimming part of the triathlon, but I need to get motivated so I don't drown at my tri the end of June.

My goal is 2x this week & 2x next week.

Sounds like it was a busy weekend for all!

Marcin - Well done on the Tri, Marcin! As Mel says 'You are a triathlete!', congrats!!! I think all of us find the swim the most daunting of the three (except Mel!) I am working on it and going to try to get some OWS 'races' before my 'A' race to get some practice of swimming with other people.

Mel, how'd them Dockers do???

Oh yep Chris you hit the nail right on the head,  the swim is the most enjoyable part for me.  I often wish it was double the length that it is in tris!  and the run was half the length.  the run is always the most daunting for me!

someone needs to organise a swim bike swim race just for me

My boys weren't so good over the weekend Chris,  it was a great close game but the dockers lost.  we've got a big game to win at home this weekend which we should do easily! fingers crossed.

Wooo! I had my first pool session with my coach... working on my breathing mainly to begin with... she says I should be able to swim well enough for a tri I want to do in Dec... is Oly length.. the fun section of the national series... I'm considering doing one in November... and Oly length too... but I just want to see how everything goes...

Splerph - I'd be thrilled if someone organised swim bike swim races too!

It's quiet here today...

How did you spend the day? Today we have bank holidays in Poland so I had opportunity to do two workouts

Splerph - you woke at 5:30 am and you call it low motivation! I start my morning workouts at 6 am and find it very early. It helps when I prepare all the stuff day before.

Nora - how is your preparation for the Minneman Tri?

What are you planning for the weekend?

Cheers

Marcin

Hey everyone

Marcin it was very very hard to get myself out of bed at 5.30am believe me.  I'm a morning person so during summer have no problem getting out of bed at 5,  winter though seems to be a different story.

Is anyone racing this weekend?  whats everyones plans training wise?

I'm just riding Sat and Sun mornings maybe with a short run off the bike on Sat if I feel like it.

Have a great weekend and good luck if anyone is racing.

Tri preparation is going pretty well other than the swim part.

Anyone else have a tri coming up soon?

Oh man, if yesterday is anywhere near like the feeling you get after finishing a tri then I'm going to love it! Sorry if I'm coming across all newbie and over the top but I felt great! It was quite a big personal challenge to do a run as it's the bit I hate the most and although 5k is nothing to most people round here it was the furthest I'd ever run. I decided that if needs be I would walk but try to avoid it so I know that when the tei came I was at least capable of running that bit. Took it slow and steady but managed a consistent pace all the way through. Didn't one feel that it was too much or too hard and when I finish I was on such a high. I'm so proud of me! *beam*
Sorry for going on but I felt I had to tell people who understood the feeling!

Woohoo!!! Way to go Kate! I agree - we all get that rush of crossing the finish line. And we should! We are out and moving and trying to be healthy, active, successful people!

How was everybody's weekend? I spent my weekend coaching strength & conditioning at an elite curling camp at one of our U.S. Olympic Training centers. It was awesome! I learned alot more about what the USOC is trying to do with curling and how the sport is advancing.

I attempted to run this morning after not doing much for 3 days - couldn't breathe - probably because I was in a cold ice rink all weekend and not used to the heat & humidity.

What are you plans/goals for the week?

Well the weekend was spent down in London at meetings but tying in a wee break with my man! Had a great time but no training and next two weeks after this I'll be in Denmark on a course - although one of the guys I'm going with has said he'll run with me so hopefully I'll get some training done. We'll be in the middle of no where though so cycling and swimming will be out of bounds I'm afraid! So .... if you don't hear much from me after Friday - that's where I'll be! I'll try to log on and up date the log though.

How was the weekend for the rest of you?

Curling?...
Oh yeah, that thing where they throw rocks down to the other side of a sheet of ice. Hmmm oversized shuffle board if you ask me

You know I used to do that alot, curl, not shuffleboard, but now in BC, I have a hard time convincing people my age to go and do it.

Great weekend for me, I worked and still got training in..YES!!

It's kind of addicting - there's so much to the sport, physically & mentally. I love it!
