Subject: Thinking of doing 1 or 2 5k runs in July
I was thinking of doing at least one 5k run before my tri in August. There are two races near me in July. One on July 4th and one on July 14th. I want to get at least one in before my tri just to get a feel for race day events. Would doing both races in July be too much before the August 12th Tri?

Go for it.  That is almost a month to "recover" from a 5k.  Plenty of time.  You could even do it much closer.

5K should be a piece of cake to recover.  I would not necessarily push real hard depending on your previous experience.

Should not be a problem. A typical guideline that you will often find for event recovery is one day off from running for each mile of the race.

Have fun and enjoy the 5k's!

I am going to sign up for both of these races...thanks for the advice folks! I am holding off for a day to see if a friend wants to do a 5k together in Columbus, once I know that, then I will know if I am going to do one or both of them. Looking forward to it.
